Welcome to the 10 Days of Prayer Reading website

10 Days of prayer is a cross-town prayer initiative in Reading. We are passionate about prayer and unity and we long to see more of God's Kingdom coming in Reading with Jesus at the centre of it all.

We believe that prayer is powerful and as God's people seek his face and partner with him, he moves in incredible ways. We can't wait to see what he has in store for our town.

We are continuing to run a Reading-wide prayer room at Abbey Baptist Church. Click here for details of usual opening times. The prayer room is also open for 24 hours from 7pm on Friday 27th March to 7pm on Saturday 28th March as part of the 40 Days of Prayer. Sign-up for a slot here.

40 Days of Prayer and Fasting

We're inviting individuals and churches to join us in praying and fasting for Reading from 1st March to 9th April 2020. At the end of this time Burn 24/7 Reading is holding 40 hours of worship from Good Friday 9th April to Easter Sunday 12th April.

Note: If you're considering abstaining from any food or drink and either have a medical condition or are considering an extended fast for a number of days then we'd recommend obtaining advice from your doctor first.

Why are we doing this? Out of worship of God, to humble ourselves and seek him for ourselves and our town.

Some examples of how you might choose to fast:

Abstain from food one day each week during the 40 days. One way of doing this is to drink fluids and go from evening meal to evening meal so that you don't have to try to sleep hungry but there are other ways of doing this.
Abstain from a particular food or drink for the 40 days, eg giving up tea/coffee or chocolate.
Change to a Vegan or "Daniel" diet. (A Daniel diet is essentially a Vegan diet but without processed/rich foods.)
Abstain from something that does not involve food/drink, eg Television or Social Media (although we will be posting updates on our facebook page!)
